Re: are there any rebates for v180 phone
i still have 9 months left in a 2 year contract and the at&t side
customer retention group just paid me $25 to take a v551
and charged me $40 for a nokia 6230 to switch to cingular
and sign on for another 2 years (those prices are including
the credit to my account. i paid them $200 for the phones,
they credited my account almost $400 (they threw in a credit
against a free month of the family talk 3500 plan at $199/mo
which i then switched to the $79 plan but retained the 199
credit, this was actually THEIR idea so they could get
around red flags raised by the $$$ they were crediting).
the v551died within a week, i just traded that back to them for
a RAZR V3. they charged me $200 for that but credited
my account ANOTHER $50 (the first time i was dealing
with the ATT side with customer retention, this time
with the regular cingular CSRs). So basically I was
given a RAZR, a 6230 (which I then sold on ebay and
bought a 6620 for the same price on ebay, cingular
wouldn't give me a good deal on that) and a couple
hundred bucks credit to stick with cingular another 2
years (net 15 months since i still had 9 months left anyway).
it was a )*&#$*&#$ nightmare to accomplish all this. hours
of calls, holds, telling my story over and over when i couldn't
reach the original people i dealt with, even when they provided
me with email addresses and proceeded to ignore my emails after
they'd spent an hour on the phone with me giving me all my options,
checking with managers about pricing, etc. VERY frustrating.
people i share an office with were laughing at me every day
spending so much time on hold (and getting very annoyed with
the speakerphone hold BLAH BLAH BLAH). in the end i'm
happy though (at least so far).
