I have a V3 and Motorola Phone Tools to backup my address book. I also have
Outlook on my computer. Phonetools wants to sync with my Outlook address
book, I do not want that. I want it to keep a separate address book in
Phonetools. How do I change the setup to have it do this?

If you are using Phone Tools to set up your backup - isn't there an
option like Hotsync to choose what you want sync'd or backed up? I
don't use phone tools - I use hotysncy.

I'm not familiar with MPT, but I believe Outlook manages things like that
through the Add-In Manager (search Outlook's HELP for specifics). It MIGHT
help to disable or delete the MPT link from Outlook instead of trying to
    monkey with MPT.

Just a thought. Again, I've never tried it myself.

In MPT go to the sync area, I remember seeing things like Manual sync,
select items to sync or sync all. Pick what you want, or nothing at
    all.

When you setup the phone with MPT you create a profile unique to each cell.
You will define the properties for each profile as necessary. One of which
is "Do you want to sync ALL contacts in Outlook or just certain predefined
or user defined categories, etc. Thus, basically you could assign
    categories to friends,businesses, etc.

When you say "separate" address book, if you mean you don't want to sync it
with Outlook and just want to backup your cell with MPT you can do that. If
you mean you want a sub-set of the contacts in Outlook that's OK too.

Mobile Phone Tools includes a driver for an MS Access Database. In the
PhoneBook View, "open", and you should be presented with MS Outlook, MS
    Outlook Express, and BVRP-mdb format.

Right click in the phone side and select all, and copy that to the BVRP
    phonebook.
