Does anyone that had AT&T find switching to th Cingular system not to be worth the effort and extra money. I know that I have been hassled to switch over repeatedly but they are still charging termination fees and the new contracts cost more....

I think the way that i share minutes right now it is way more cost effective to ride out my contract and switch to Verizon.

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
When I switched over the termination fee was waived (but I still had
to pay the $35 (I think) activation fee which SHOULD have been waived.
I am just as happy with Cingular as I was with AT^T. No prolbems with
my service or quality of calls (or data access)

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
My bill actually went down (family plan $79.99 with cingular
was $84.99 with ATT) and now we have rollover minutes.
Dunno about receiption differences since we switched phones
at the same time.

Are you having any problems with your phone or reception? If not, keep
everything as-is. Don't try to fix something that's not broken.

We switched over and it was the worst nightmare ever. I only wish I could
wake up from it. I have been with Cinguliar now for 8 months and have had 8
billing errors. Not one time have I gotten a bill and it was correct. They
have not given me their Nationally Advertised Rollover minutes and have cost
me overages which cost me several hundred dollars, It took me a couple of
hours on the phone and getting bounced around to finally get them to
understand that I was not getting the rollover on any of my three (3)
phones. They finally said they would get it fixed and credited the overage
off but the following month no rollover minutes and more overages. I bought
a phone from them which had a $100.00 rebate which they were supposed to put
back on my credit card but they didn't now after an argument and a hassle
they took the $100.00 off my bill, my Cingular bill so now I am still paying
the interest on the credit card.
If anyone is thinking about switching to Cingular I would urge them to look
elsewhere. It simply isn't worth it. They are the worst company in a service
related industry I have every dealt with period. Run from them don't walk
away but run as fast as possible. The problems I have had with them are many
many more than what I have listed here. On hold for over an hour and then
getting hung up on, rude customer service people, promises not kept,
purchases not delivered, voicemail not available, all circuits busy, dropped
calls, dropped signal, no service, etc etc. I could go on and on but you get
the idea.

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
If the credit card bill had been paid off when you first got it.
"Poof" no interest charge. Now that you have a credit on your wireless
bill, use the money you would have paid on it, to pay the credit card
bill. So, you paid some interest to the credit card company. cingular
has no control over that.

No kidding, you say that like I am a fool or something. Had Cingular done
what they were supposed to and not taken almost 6 months to do the refund I
would have only paid a couple months interest. But no they took almost six
months to refund me the money and had I not called and raised hell with them
they would not have refunded it when they did. I just got the refund on my
last bill and was planning on paying the $100.00 on my credit card. Cingular
had complete control over the situation by not refunding the money in an
orderly time and manner. They said it would take 4 to 6 weeks but they
weren't going to do it at all and when we called bak at the 6 week time we
got the run around and we did until we finally got nasty with them and they
agreed to give us the credit.
It is like the mobile to mobile minutes we were told they were included in
the program we signed up for but it took an act of congress to get them on
our account an act of congress and three months of fighting with Cingular to
get them on there. They advertise that in their National advertising "call
anyone on the cingular network and pay nothing" BS you had better check you
bill because if they dont set it up in their computer you dont get free M2M
calling and they "FORGET" quite often.
Here is a great website about Cingular

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
Sorry for the problems you've had; that would frustrate anyone. However, it
isn't universal. I've been with Cingular for years and have never had any
more problems than I've had with any other large company from time to time.
Reception has always been pretty good.

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
I would not have paid a couple of months interest. I would have paid
the credit card bill when it came right away. That you did not is not
under cingular's control.

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
I guess I am not perfect like you. I was giving Cingular a chance to do what
was right and give the credit within the 4 to 6 weeks. I did not mind paying
the interest on that period, had I minded I wouldn't have done what I did.
But when it started going over then I started getting upset, then when I
decided to pay the bill off here comes a bill from Cingular with almost
$500.00 in overages on it that we had to pay because they did not give us
the Mobile to Mobile minutes. Yes we finally got that credited but as soon
as we did they sent us yet another bill for the same exact thing overages
because of no credit from the previous mobile to mobile (when it was told to
us it was credited off) and even more overages caused by the same thing. All
of our rollover minutes were eaten up because they did not give us credit
for mobile to mobile. It has taken us until the last bill to get all of this
mess fixed. Had I not had to pay for all these overages I would have paid
the credit card off. So in your infinite wisdom you can go ahead and praise
Cingular all you want, as far as I am concerned they are the absolute worst
service company I have ever dealt with period.
IF ANYONE IS CONSIDERING CINGULAR RUN DON'T WALK AWAY BUT RUN FROM THEM.

Re: Att to Cingular: Worth it?
I did not praise cingular. That wireless companies would hold back
rebates when you are not current with your bill seems normal. When you
have gone over, you don't have any rollover. Sounds like you are on too
small of a plan. Ending your relationship with cingular might be a good
idea. Perhaps a Fair and Flexible Plan would suit you better.

He's not perfect, he's just responsible for his finances. No one should
EVER rely on a mail in rebate to pay off the balance of their credit
card. Too may things can go wrong, rebates can be rejected, or a dozen
other things could happen that significantly delays or even denies you
the rebate check. Rebates are intended for people who can stand to pay
the full price and receive a windfall at some point later in time.
