I currently have Nextel service with unlimited incoming calls
and direct connect for $59 per month. As you know Sprint and
Nextel have merged and both are offering (for $10) unlimited
night minutes beginning at 6 pm.
If I want better reception/coverage should I dump my Nextel
and get a Sprint phone and service. Is their "walkie talkie"
(direct link) as good as Nextel's version?
Any comments appreciated.

Re: Need Advice on Coverage
It's good, but I would just hold off, another yr and they will have cross
platform functions between iden and readylink. Another 2 yrs or so and
everything will be one, according to many on the newsgroups.

Re: Need Advice on Coverage
Nextel is better as a walkie-talkie, Sprint is better as a phone. You need
to determine that is more important to you and try a Sprint phone during a
two week trial period to see if it will work where you live and travel.

I'd recommend posting what area you use your Nextel phone and get some
comments from those folks that frequent your area. Posting City (ies),
neighborhoods, etc. would be a good start.

Make sure you check into the off network roaming. You could get burnt if
not careful

That's not true. Nextel users can roam on Extend America in the Dakotas.
