    Hi,

I just purchased Motorola Mobile Phone Tools from

    http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motorola/

I purchased a full copy since I didn't have anything installed yet.

After I installed the software and connected my phone via USB cable my
Dell computer running Windows XP correctly recognized the device and
installed the necessary driver for the modem.

Unfortunately the mobile phones tools does not seem to be able to see
the phone because it keeps getting to the screen where it asks me to
select my type of connection and USB is selected by default so I go to
the next screen and it says please turn on your phone and connect it to
the cable and connect it to the pc. But the phone is already connected
and the computer found it without any problem so why can't Mobile
    Phones Tools see it?

I had a feeling this wasn't going to work the first time. Any
    suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Steve

MPT doesn't want to use the Windows XP drivers. You need to remove those.
Start MPT without recognizing the phone, perform a LiveUpdate to 3.25b,
    then connect the phone.

Always plug your phone into the same USB port.

There are hundreds of posts on the BVRP forums that you can wade through.
The "sticky" post near the top is generally pretty helpful.

OK. Thanks. I had already done this and deleted my post because I got
it working. I looked through the BVRP FAQ but I didn't find anything
that mentioned the 3.25b update. Then I found another post in google
that mentioned doing the live update so I tried it and it works now. I
wonder why they don't just update the software they are selling or get
it so it automatically does a live update after the install. That
would save a lot of people the grief I went through this morning.
