Hi. Would like to ask if this is a new problem for others also.
Here in Florida, we switched over to the "new" voice mail system about 2
    weeks ago.
Here's the problem. When I check my voicemail, I can not delete a message
until the message finishes. (Using the new '7' key)
To delete 6 messages (each 90 seconds long) takes 9 Minutes of Air time.
Not to mention the frustration it takes to get to the 7th message (the one I
    need).
I have not found any options in Cingular's confusing personal menu phone
    tree either.

The older system was better because I could just hit "1" to delete the
message at any time, and move on to the next message.( or 3 to save and move
    on).
I know Cingular is terrible at customer service, but please tell me they're
    not this bad.
    Any workaround? Thanks.

there is the help page for cingular. Here in Dallas we can either press
3 several times to get to the end of the message and then 7 to delete,
or with the new system it's even easier to press 7 twice and immediately
delete the item. 9 twice will save during playback. Also under
administrative options make sure you have rapid playback set, and
    autoplay...

Just push 3 3 7 The 3 3 takes you to the end of the message then 7
    deletes it.

Thank you everyone. Yes, this did the trick. I believe it was the "rapid
    Playback" option.
Before, `7` twice didn't do anything. I could only delete the message at
the end. Now, hitting `7` twice will delete the message immediately.
    Thank you very much. :>)

I noticed that the link to the quick guide is out of date for the South
East. There is no mention of hitting 7 twice. Some of the Administrative
options end in a dead-end, meaning you have to "guess" how to get out of it
(`*`). And there's a few more things I've noticed. Basically, I'm not too
impressed with Cingular's customer service department.

    Anyway, Thanks again. :>)

I had the same problem when the voicemail changed. I tried the "7" "7"
technique with no success and then learned from a friend that also has
Cingular that you have to press the 7s in VERY rapid succession. Pretty
much like double clicking with your mouse. I have to say upon this
discovery I'm once again happy with my voicemail. (I was irritated when
I couldn't press 3 during any part of the message).
