Need help here. My wife's Samsung x427 suddenly stopped receiving incoming
calls. She can make an outgoing call no prob. To make matters worse, this
occured just as she was going out of town, now she is out of state nowhere
near a Cingular store and when I call Cingular techsup has been of no help
at all. She is alone in the boonies in SC w/o a fully operational phone!

    Cingular so far has:
had her turn phone on/off, remove/replace SIM, etc.
sent 3 updates, turn phone on/off
    leave phone off overnight

no dice. When I call her from any cell, the sending cell disconnects
immediately or they will get VM. When calling from a LAN line, you get a
    busy signal.
This suddenly happened at the worst time, does anyone have a suggestion to
help us? I can call her on her hotel phone and instruct her on how to fix
it, but I am very suspect at this time that the problem is Cingulars and not
her phone or am I wrong?

    TIA, marx404

    I had my x427 replaced after a year, fee, because of a software problem;
it wouldn't hang up and I had to take the battery out. Since this is a
known problem, they may switch out for free.

    Try some of this :
    http://www.geckobeach.com/cellular/secrets/gsmcodes.asp

It is possible you/ she have inadvertently turned on call barring for
incoming calls, or, activiated a diversion unexpectedly.

There was a Cingular problem in some areas with call forwarding being
activated accidentally. Try dialing "#002#" and push the SEND button as if
you were calling that number. You may receive some type of an error
message, don't worry, it's normal. Then place any outgoing call from your
phone (you may have to try twice). If this was your problem it should now
    receive calls fine.

I recently had all incoming calls to all phones on a family plan being
    forwarded to voicemail.

It was finally resolved by a Cingular tech service group above the
second level resetting something at their end. It took a couple of days
    to get it done.
