    So whats eveyones Opinion?

I switched to Nextel on the 7th of December and have 15 days to
test/try/them out. So far I am happy with the PTT and the cell
coverage, Cant get a signal in the house but I can get one outside,
no biggy couldnt get it with Verizon but could get 5 bars with Cingular
    in the house.

Watched the demo for PTT on the Cingular web site and its the same as
Nextel, as far as switching to a celluar call well nexte cant do that
but you can switch over to the non external speaker so that eveyone
does not have to hear your calls.

Any one else care to chime in on this conversation?

    Michael

Cingular would be your best bet except that there's no PTT phone selection.

To improve Nextel reception in your house, consider the ARC Freedom antenna,
stylish, and easily carried from room to room.

I had Nextel for 6 years and switched to Cingular last year, I have the Samsung D357 and I'm loving it.

Nextel/Sprint took out a display ad in today's Wall Street Journal pointing
out that Nextel has a huge number of people to whom one can talk--whereas
    Cingular has virtually none.

I wish that Verizon would just buy everybody else out, so we wouldn't have
to contend with all those competing systems.

    >From what I read, Cingular's push-to-talk network is larger than anyone
else's as of November. That's network. . not PTT customers. Plus,
you'll have superior voice coverage. .It'll just take a little while
before PTT really catches on with Cingular. I haven't really seen a lot
of marketing for Cinguar's PTT either so it may be a good while. The
digital voice and data is great though.

Nextel has the best PTT network. Shortest times to connect to another phone
    period.

Take a nextel phone, press the button and receiving Nextel phone will
acknowledge in less than .5 secs

On Cingular, it can take many seconds at times.

This is unquestionably true in 12/2005.

If you value high quality PTT above ALL else, then Nextel is for you.
Otherwise, other carriers (Cingular and Verizon come to mind) have
clear advantages over Nextel -- such as in the areas, cost, phone
    selection, service area, high-speed data.

In fact, I would go as far to say that there is NO good reason to go
with Nextel (or all your friends aren't on it so the M2M is an issue)
if you don't put much value on PTT.

Re: Push To Talk , Cingular vs Nextel

IHMO, Nextel is supposedly and with a doubt the leader in PTT NOW,
with the Sprint / Nextel Merger things have gotten chaotic, and why I
chose to leave was because of overall cost per month , IT was NOT
going to be what the sales rep said it was going to be, it was going to
be 40 plus dollars more. IF Cingulars PTT does not work out for my
family I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

On the Cingular bandwidth and regular calls I have had nothing but
great service and hope to continue. From what I have read about there
new PTT and the technology is very very good and growing every day.

Also the majority of our friends are on Cingular now, and I know of
over 12 people that have had Nextel move over to Cingular to try it and
see how it goes, hey if it works, it works, if not, I turn the whole
thing back in and deal with it. BUT you never know till you try it.
Rumors and gossip are not the answers as to how a product works, no
    two people are alike.

It actually takes less than 2 seconds most of the time. No big deal. What
matters is latency once the connection has been set up, which is as good or
better for Cingular than for Nextel.
