    Re: GSM is history..

May I ask about the comment that GSM is history? Is there some thought that
GSM will go away on the cingular network? I am interested in this because it
is time to renew my contract with cingular.

GSM here in Sarasota, FL is shakey at best. In some downtown areas,
services is BAD. (We are not in NYC witl tall buildings ~ Florida is flat!).
Signal quality varies from minute to minute ~ from same location. Bailout
is expensive - would prefer CDMA-based service. Incoming calls from a
land-line are usually good. Cell calls out (to a land-line) are shakey.
Cell-to-cell is shakey. (Shakey meaning no pattern, varies from minute to
minute. MANY incoming calls NOT received - msg pops up about a missed call!
Yesterday wife tried seven (7) time to reach me - she was only a few miles
away, all in greater Sarasota City area. She left two (2) voices msgs, only
one came through. I continue to be patient.
