I have an Ericsson R300LX that AT&T sent me a couple years ago when they
went digital. I just put a new Lithium Ion battery in it. The
instructions say to fully charge and discharge it at least three times when
it is new. I carry the phone mainly for emergencies so it gets used very
little. I charged up the battery the first time and left the phone on to
discharge the battery. The thing has been on for 10 days now and still is
not discharged. I have not made any phone calls in the last 10 days, just
    left the phone turned on.

Can anyone think of any way to discharge it faster other than making phone
calls which would eat up my air time?

I tried sitting here playing the ring tones one after another but that
gets old in a hurry. There is no discharge feature on the charger that I
    have for the phone.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Dial 611. It's a FREE call to customer care.

I believe the battery will discharge faster if it is not getting a signal
    from a tower. At least
every phone I've ever had seem to work this way. Maybe you could put the
    phone in the
basement or inside a metal box (something like a breadbox ) where it does
    not get signal...

I would suggest storing it in the microwave...but we know what would
    happen accidently.
