    I had a Nokia 6620 and subscribed to Cingular's
5 meg data plan for $9.99/month. No problems.
    I then replaced the 6620 with a PDA (6515),
dropped my SIM in, had no problems.

Today I called Cingular and asked them to upgrade
my 5 meg plan to unlimited for $19.99.

They did that and I can no longer connect to GPRS.

So before I call Cingular (and they try and force me
to take the PDA plan for $39.99/mo when the $9.99
was working fine for me) I thought I'd try here.

Is it possible Cingular pushed new GPRS settings
to my phone (without my phone giving any indication
of it?) Anyway, my settings currently are:

    GPRS Cingular
    Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
    Access point: WAP.CINGULAR
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: (dunno, just shows asterisks)
    Domain: (none)
    Use server assigned IP
    Use server assigned DNS

Did you power cycle the phone?
It seems that I had to do that. It needs to re-register with the network.

If that isn't it, call and ask what features are on your account. I have
had items like voicemail disappear when other changes were made.
There's something not quite solid in the features selection routine.

I log on to cingular.com and check my features before and after any session
with customer service, and it's not a bad idea to check again a couple of
days later. I print the list to a pdf file named for the time and date,
    for future reference.

I asked to change voice plans, and then changed my mind when I realized
that the billing wouldn't be the way I need it to be. When they reverted,
they somehow changed me from MEdiaNet Unlimited to MEdiaWorks.

That seems like a scribble on paper and remember kind of error, as if all
of the features were wiped out and manually restored.

Because of that change, I would have had data overage charges if _I_ hadn't
caught the error. Fortunately I didn't overrun the pro-rated portion of my
5MB/Month allotment during that couple of days.

There's a good lesson here, wish I had done that because while I mentioned
here that I have the 5meg plan, they told me today I had a 1 meg plan. I
know I ordered 5meg and I know I saw it online at one point. When this
months bill comes it's going to be fun because I know I went way way way
over 1 meg (and I'm sure over 5 meg as well) with the new phone while
on vacation. I'm not sure what they charge per KB but there's 4000 of them
that I shouldn't be charged for. My company will reimburse me, but
    still......
Hopefully one of my paper bills shows 5meg somewhere.

Not on paper, but there is a log of changes that customer service can
examine. It might show 5mb and the change dates, although the comments are
guaranteed to be skimpy. They might mutter something about the data that
you are using being an obvious sign of tethering. You might point out that
www.google.com/glm can eat up .5 MB per usage on a phone.

I deliberately ordered the 1MB plan because it is "unlimited for the first
month", intending to upgrade at the end of the first month. They showed
that I had 1mb turned on, and then turned off because it conflicted with
another feature that I had. I said that was their fault, not mine. Then
they said it was only 1mb, not unlimited, which would have given me 2mb
for the month. When I pointed out that the unlimited free month should
have applied, they credited the entire amount. That was good for a $107
credit, and I have monitored them pretty closely since then.

The woman claimed that her log showed that I had been 1 meg since
last April and it didn't go back any further. To be honest, I don't think I
even HAD data service last April. In any event I started out with a 5
meg plan for (I think it was) $15 or $20 then saw a post in here about
how it should cost $9.95 and called and had them change it.

Oh well, I'm going to dig this unlimited thing. I'd love to try the Google
local thing, but I'm trying to find out if there is a version that will run
    on
my 240x240 display on WM2003 (it's java based, so it should only
be the display that's an issue).

The reps should be able to look into your account history and see what you
were on and when the change was made and correct the error

They should, but as I mentioned in another post, the woman
said as far as she could tell, I was on the 1 meg since last
April and the records didn't go back any further than that .
