Got a Nokia 6820 with a blue sim and ATTWS call plan. I love my phone and
don't want to give it up, unless Cingular offers the E70.

That said, if I picked up a new freebie phone from Cingular (and calling
plan) and swapped the new orange sim for the old blue sim, would my 6820
    work?

    Has anyone done tried this?

Not if the 6820 is locked to ATTWS. If it's unlocked, an orange SIM will
    work.

with just a tad checking around you can easily get your att nokia unlocked..

    try unlocknokia.us

getting a new calling plan and signing a 2 year agreement is probably not
the best choice even if they give you a cheapo phone unless you really need
to change your plan and get more minutes.
