As of 6/01/2006 Cingular seems to have changed something and my older
phone with a 32k SIM is DOA. Anyone else having problems with their
    phone?

After numerous calls to CS and a lot of BS one of them admitted that
there had been some upgrading of their service but claimed it couldn't
be the problem. Everyone else claimed to know nothing about any
    changes.

Following CS's instructions I took the phone, an Ericsson T28z, to the
local store where they "upgraded" my phone to 64k SIM. Now it's
totally dead - not even Emergency Service is working.

Just curious...did you try placing a call while still in the store. Its
pretty compelling when you tell them it worked before you walked in the
store and now after the upgrade its dead. Leaves little room for them to
    duck the problem.

Do you know anyone who has Cingular that you
can swap sim cards with? that will tell you if the
problem follows the card or the phone.

I did a bit of looking, are we talking about
a five year old phone? If so, I would assume the phone is
bad and move on. I found one on e-bay for 15 bucks,
    free shipping.
