I just purchased a phone from Ebay. Should I register my IMEI number with
Cingular? If so what is the benefit?

No need to do that. All that's needed with GSM is an activated SIM.

They know the number if you call and tell them it was stolen??
That's all I can think of. I used my L7 for a couple months before they
even knew I changed phones and only because I called and asked about a
strange phnom that happens with this European phone when I check voice mail.
