I am one of those "cheap-skate" TDMA customers that switched onto Sprint
last week. The CSR said "sorry to hear that, we can offer you a Nokia
phone for 30 day trial". Said sorry, I want CDMA/AMPS, not GSM. Coverage
will continue until midnight of the last day of billing cycle. If there
are no unpredictable charges (minutes, roaming), no more bills.

While I had pretty good TDMA coverage home, it was lousy by the 5600
area of the north Chicago lakefront and in West Windsor / Princeton, NJ,
as it always was, lucky to get 1 of 4 bars. GSM there absolutely sucks
even more making a relative's phone almost unusable with listeners
hearing echoes if anything at all. CSR's and nearby store did all they
could with the GSM Nokia. The Nokia CDMA phone there on the other hand
works great, with 4 of 7 bars. She of course will switch to Sprint
within the month, and we will each get $25 debit cards.

I don't care what they use in Asia and Europe, or what the communication
experts here say, this customer is right and voted his my feet based on
    his personal experience.

Will you come back with full details on your Sprint dropped calls, and
the inability to get a signal indoors?

He will have a good experience with Sprint as they are one of the best
    cellular providers.

No because neither happens, and I have it on Sprint-only.
Do you think I am fool enough not to have sufficiently tested Sprint on
both incoming and outgoing calls in severeal locales before I dropped
Cingular ? That's one reason I didn't bother with LPN so I can rollback
if need be without a hassle. I work in a steel and glass office building
and it works fine 40 feet in from a window. The GSM people have to run
    to a window or outside.

Just wait. Those Sprint phones run on 1900 MHz, which is not healthy for
    living circuits.

Sarcasm I assume, since JD Power, Consumer Reports and the Yankee Group
always rate Sprint at the bottom for service.

Ultimately, that is the only thing that matters: the
service which works for you in the locale you need it to
work at the time(s) you need it to work, regardless of
    provider and/or underlying network technology.

No sarcasm intended, just truth. I travel throughout the country and get
better performance from Sprint than Verizon. Verizon does not provide
service at my home in Laguna Niguel California or at my office in Carlsbad
California. These are both highly populated areas in Orange and San Diego
Countys respectively. Sprint provides excellent service at both locations.

Zwick used to hangout in alt.cellular.sprintpcs. He has a grudge against
Sprint because they cancelled him for not paying his bill. Google the
alt.cellular.sprintpcs newsgroup and read all of his negative posts against
Sprint if you don't believe me.

I switched cause I got tired of:

Biodegradable phones, and myriad dropped calls and abysmal CSRs.

I always paid EVERY bill 3 weeks early, and still do.

And as always I know I'm spot on (Sprint is the pits) when people have
to resort to fallacious personal attacks.

Just read JD Power, Consumer Reports, or Yankee Group surveys for the
fact that Sprint for years rates last in Customer Service.

I'm a satisfied Cingular customer of many years. But I have to admit
that a Sprint subscriber I know is able to make and receive calls in a
subterranean parking garage where I can not get a signal.

Interesting- I've always gone with a carrier for coverage and price. Good
coverage and lousy customer service allows me to make a call. Poor coverage
and great customer service does not.
