I lost my phone, and I have less than a year to go on my plan. The only
option I can get from Cingular or Best Buy is to sign up for 2 years, or pay
over $200 for a phone. What are my other options? Can I get a $49 track
phone and transfer the number?
Thank you in advance for advice.

Buy a used Cingular GSM phone on eBay and get a replacement SIM (also
from eBay or from Cingular.) Any unlocked or Cingular GSM phone with the
850 and 1900 MHz Band will do. The Nokia 6010 would be relatively cheap
and fit the requirements.

Not a TracFone- they're specially programmed to only work with TracFone
as your provider.
A Cingular "GoPhone" ($30+) from Target or WalMart would probably work.
However, some folks have reported stories (mostly second or third hand)
of Cingular not allowing contract customers to use their prepaid
GoPhones, but I personally think that's waaay too much record-keeping on
Cingular's part to stop a very small number of people trying to "beat the
system."
IMHO, it's worth a shot.
