If you're in a 3G area I would definitely choose the LG. In addition, mine
seems to be faster in EDGE areas than my V551 and V557 were. Its only
shortcoming is its lack of built-in email access.

Display, sound quality, etc. are excellent.

    Re: Which is Better?

I had a Samsung for about 2 weeks and started getting the "insert SIM card"
message. I switched to the LG just last Wednesday. I LOVED it ....notice the
"ed" on the end of it.
This past weekend, my husband and I were in the same place and I had a full
signal, but when I went to make a call, it was like it was dead - no
anything. That happened for about 2 hours.
I called the Cingular store - of course, they said to bring it back - but we
    were on the road.
I also have gotten "Insert Smart Chip" message 3 times. Not sure if it's a
bad card or what, BUT I'm taking it back tonight.
Otherwise, I LOVE the phone - only "cons" I can see is that the buttons on
the side could be a little more protruded, it has the "flimsy" cover for the
charging area, and, there's no way to mute message alerts - unless you have
all of the alerts (rings, etc) on silent.
And it doesn't have voice dial, which my Motorola V220 had. Kind of miss
    that.

I have the same question. I recently had my purse stolen and lost my
beloved Razr V3. I called Cingular sales to get another and it was just too
much so the rep suggested the CU500 which had rebates on it making it
affordable. I've been to many tech/phone review sites and have seen mixed
reviews. I'm wondering what the voice quality is like more than all the
extra features since this is my primary phone, I don't use a landline. It's
supposed to arrive 12/20 via FedEx so we'll see. I hope I made the right
    decision.
