I will be receiving my 8525 tomorrow. I have the Cingular unlimited data
plan on my current phone - an 8125. When I was perusing the online manual
for the 8525, it talked about the phone needing a 3G sim card. I was
thinking I could just swap my current 8125 sim and put it in the 8525 to
take advantage of the 3G Cingular network of the phone. Do I also need to
get a new Sim card as well. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Upgrading from 8125 to 8525 - Do I need a new SIM
You most likely already have a 3G SIM. It's a 64K sim card. Some
older subs may only have a 32K sim and that is the reason why they put
that in the manual. Pull the SIM out of the 8125 and look at it
closely I'm sure you will see that it reads 64K sim. If not you can
get on free of charge by visiting a Cingy direct store.

I had a 64K SIM in my 15 month old Cingular Razr V3. It had to be upgraded
to a "3G" SIM to take advantage of UMTS for now, HSDPA later.
I'm regularly clocking >800Kbs according to CNet's bandwidth test. I also
use it with a external 1/2 VGA display so the speed is nice.
Included in my data plan for $39/mon was unlimited Internet access on the
8525 and tethering to a notebook.

Where is the $39/month plan listed. All I see is the media net (which
I have for $20 additional), and the $59 laptop plan (requiring a $39+
voice plan) and a $79 data only plan (for a laptop card w/o a phone)?

Call customer service to see if 'PDACnctUntlAdd' is still available.

They have something called PDA Extreme or something like that for $39.99.

You'll need to verify with Cingular, but that appears to be what I have.
Note that does not included messaging. Inbound or outbound text messages are
10 cents, video or pictures are 25 cents.
