    Yes, you can.

Please do not believe most of the things some of those sales peope tell
you. A lot of them are cluless. That particular one should probably be
    fired!

The salesperson MIGHT be right. AFAIK, a blue ATTWS (pre-Cingular
buyout) SIM won't work in a Cingular/"new at&t" phone (unless the
phone is unlocked, of course.) I don't know how old the 3120 is, or
if the OP is on a legacy "blue" rate plan.

Essentially if the SIM's orange, it'll work. If it's blue, it most
    likely won't.

A bigger mystery is why the salesperson didn't just let the OP try it
then and there and remove any doubt! It's not like an incompatible
SIM/phone combination would damage either one...

I agree, but the reason why I said that is because according to OP, the
salesman said not all sim cards are the same. The nokia 3120 and RAZR
like all recent phones that use sim cards, use the same sim.

There are three SIMs that I know of that all work on the at&t network.
There is an original, an upgrade to 32K, and then 3G.
Will the original work in a 3G phone? Don't know about that. The 32K
works, but some people have been told to go in for an upgrade. I was, and
    did.

That's another question back to the OP. I walked into an independent
store, not even an at&t store, and they swapped my old SIM for a 3G SIM at
no charge. Why wouldn't the OP get a free new SIM, instead of keeping the
old one, unless it was the old AT&T, not Cingular, not at&t?

I have a white AT&T SIM that won't work in my locked at&t phone, and my
at&t SIM won't work in the old phone. some people enjoy the AT&T rate
plans, and don't want to convert to at&t.
