Now that I have provided the raw link, that pretty much obviates
the need not to go to the URL and find the answer to his question.

Maybe you need one of those shiny thin new Mac Book Airs and get rid of the
    PC Petri Dish?

    Thank you.

The $500 fee applies to static public IP, not server setup.
No charge for dynamic public IP.

Even at 8 hours per day, that's about 350 MB per day, or "only" about 10
GB per month even if done every single day of the month. I'm guessing
it's actually no more than 5 GB per month. Have you checked your actual
    usage?

ALL computers are vulnerable to attacks! For example, the new Flash
UPnP exploit affects ANY platform as long as Flash 8 or greater is
installed. Thinking your computer isn't vulnerable is seriously naive.

True, but there's a difference between prudent and paranoid. While I'd
certainly choose not to use an unsolicited TinyURL I found in my SPAM box
(or even a full URL for that matter!), I'd hardly consider one offered by a
regular poster here in a cilivilized conversation source for much concern.

The conversation oft directed John's way is not really all that
civilized though, so I don't fault him for caution.

    Elmo,

I'll bite. Name one computer/OS/browser combination that's not
    vulnerable to attack.

I know my solution... curious if your advice has more heat than light
    though.

For browsers, no spyware/malware on Macs. Good start.

Errrrk. As Trebek would say "Sore-y, that was an incorrect response."

Last year this time, we had a month full of disclosures on Apple problems:
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2704,2084092,00.asp

    http://www.news.com/Mac%20malware%20...3-5700982.html
    http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/techalerts/TA06-132A.html

    and many others.

Just because OS X isn't nearly the petri dish that Windows has been
(and seems to be the consumer OS with the least problems), it's FAR
from invulnerable. Anyone thinking security is a product, or a
platform is a fool. Anyone clicking on any ole tinyurl that comes
down the pike is also asking to be owned.

And oh look, another Quicktime flaw. HOpe you don't have the
Quicktime plugin enabled on your mac. Ooops. It ships that way.

Of course, there is no such system.....

However, one can name several systems that aren't, generally, listed as
TARGETS, out of all systems which are vulnerable. Nothing associated with
the hated Micro$oft is listed in the "Non-Targeted" category.

Linux systems, for instance, are much "safer" than Micro$oft's, not because
they aren't any less vulnerable than Windoze, but because they are much
    less of a TARGET.

ALL countries are vulnerable to nuclear attack. However, Trinidad and
Tobago are MUCH safer than the USA, UK or Russia because they are MUCH less
of a TARGET, in the eyes of the nuclear powers.....just as an example.
Your probability of being attacked with nuclear weapons in Trinidad, I'd
say, are damned near ZERO, no matter how mad the rest of the world gets.

Systems supported by the hackers, good and bad, are fairly safe, much safer
than Windows Vista on its BEST day.
