$500 is for static public IP. If you don't know the difference, then
    you're out of your depth.

    As I said before,

My point is - you have to pay much extra if you want to run a
server [or any other applicable use] behind an AT&T wireless device,
may it be a tethered handset or air card.

Set up a simple HTTP server on one of your computers and connect
it to the internet via your wireless device, then find your IP
addy (www.whatismyip.com); then use another computer to view your
    webserver on the first computer.

[added disclaimer - the second computer can't be connected to
the AT&T wireless network. You CAN do it if both computers are
using their own AT&T air cards.]

    You can't do it.

If you think you can, "If you don't know the difference, then
    "you're out of your depth.

What the heck does it matter if you have a static IP or not? You
can STILL run a web server behind an ISP's DHCP server using dynaip.

Yes real front page news. LOL
How deep a Google search did it take to dig this up?
    Only blog entries?

Don't blame me that I use a system that is so less vulnerable that at
this juncture, there is virtually no real chance of getting infected
with any real virus. Malware is non-existent.

Yes, funny that only deep Google searches turn up this kind of stuff
    isn't it?

One virus that may exist and another exposes a vulnerability that may do
    something.
Meanwhile, update your Windows box, another 3,000 real viruses came out
    yesterday. LOL

It seems the title of that piece is right on. Good luck!

Oh, and by the way, I run Windows (along with all many other OSes),
and I don't have much risk of getting infected, but that's because
I carefully practice safe computing, the _only_ sure way to protect
yourself. Not taking such precautions, no matter what the platform,
    is a very bad idea.

At least you can easily find YouTube. You've got to dig deep to find
anything about Mac viruses, and mostly on obscure blogs.

Richard Dawkins, wasn't he a game show host originally on "Hogan's
    Heros"? :-)

A more well-known analogy might have been funnier.

Nothing deep about it -- information on Mac vulnerabilities is easy to
find, despite Apple's dangerous coyness -- and the list of security
fixes rushed out by Apple is pretty long.

    >One virus that may exist and another exposes a vulnerability that may do
    >something.

That's dangerously naive. Good luck. You'll need it.

    >Meanwhile, update your Windows box, another 3,000 real viruses came out

My Windows box is quite secure, thank you, probably more secure than any
    Mac I know of.

According to Bruce Schneier, "Security is a process, not a product."
But you know more about security than he does, right? Likewise other
    security professionals?

Prudence, not paranoia, and that's why it's secure.

Read more carefully. A challenge for you, I know, but it's really not
    all that hard.
