"Seemingly custom-built for business travelers, the HP iPAQ hw6515 ($450
with two-year service contract) will tell you where you're going and who
wants you to get there, with its excellent push e-mail and GPS
functions. Unfortunately, bugs and incompatibilities with some Pocket PC
software plagued our preproduction unit and left us troubled."

It's funny how Winmob devices get 22 chances to "get it right" but the
    iPhone has to be perfect.

And the iPhone is a lot more than just user-friendly, or in the naive words
of some detractors, a toy. Right now my iPhone "toy" is running Apache and
SSH servers. With the Web server I have access to my iPhone from any
computer on the same network--and I only turn it on when I need it. SSH, of
course, lets me do just about everything on the iPhone from another
computer. Or I can use a terminal right on the iPhone itself. This is a full
blown 'nix 'puter that is capable of just about anything. Heck, I have a
cron job that FTPs my contacts and addressbook databases to safe location
each hour. And the hardware fits the iPhone like a glove: it just works.

Could *never* say that about any Winmob device I've ever owned.

If the iPhone has to be "perfect" it's only because of Steve Jobs crapping
on every phone that ever came before it at the 2007 keynote. HE set the
    bar!

Which is very cool, but requires a level of hacking that makes the
convoluted reg editing and tweaking of a WinMo phone look a walk in the
    park!

    > Could *never* say that about any Winmob device I've ever owned.

I'll give you that. Unfortunately, the touchscreen version of the WinMo OS
has never been built from ground up for telephony use. It's always been a
"kludge" built by grafting phone hardware onto an existing OS built for
    PDAs.

The WinMo "Standard" version, however, (formerly known as "Windows Mobile
Smartphone") for non-touchscreen devices is a far more stable and
phone-centric OS- it WAS designed as a phone OS unlike the PDA versions, and
was MS' answer to the earlier attempts of phone manufactures to build PDA
phones built on the Pocket PC platform. I don't use it, however, for the
same reason I don't use an iPhone- there are too many features lacking from
them that are readily and easily available on WinMo Pro devices. I'm
apparently all too willing to trade ease-of-use and stability for an
enhanced feature set! ;-) I did buy my wife a WinMo Standard handset
because, like the iPhone, it too "just works" for it's intended
out-of-the-box functions, but, like WinMO Pro, is also easily enhanced by
third-party apps- just not to the same degree, although that's been changing
as more developers concentrate on the now more popular "Standard" platform.

Well, you were saying that the phones I listed require "tech Geek"
expertise to use functionality without effort. I showed that you were
anything but right. In that context, your statement makes no sense as a
    reply.

    I laugh at this.

I can sit across from people who have these devices and show them a
neat feature of the iPhone, they will say they think their phone does
that too and they will play with it for several minutes and then give
up. They can not remember how!

Those other phones are user friendly - NOT.

    LOL

Sure they are. They have voice dialing, SMS, high speed internet.... A
bunch of easy to use features that the iPhone can only dream about at
    this point.

And in some cases, the interface is much more intuitive than the iPhone.

My iPhone now has voice dialing and vocie command. That is what is so
neat about this is that you can add or create missing OTB features
with the iPhone which is a powerful waffer thin computer with a great
    screen.

There will be a moment of silence now for those who don't have one.

    Ok now we can continue.
