Can some one please provide me a link to download Windows Mobile 6 for my

Since he's posting in a Cingular NG and asking about an "8525"
(AT&T/Cingular's name for the HTC TyTn, used by no other provider, AFAIK)
it's probably safe to assume he's on AT&T. If so, the latest firmware is
here:
http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=65&act=sd
To the OP: read the info on that page carefully before upgrading,
especially if you use Good Mobile Messaging, since older Versions of Good
do not get along with WinMo 6.

Re: 8525 phone
He's asking for the software not the firmware.
When I had my palm with mobile 6 and wanted to get an update, I had to go to
palm as they told me it all had to do with the carrier your on.

I thought I replied to this, but maybe it was lost in the either- if another
response shows up, igore it!
I'm probably incorrect in my old-school terminology from the days when "ROM"
was actually "ROM" and not reflashable, as it is today, but in my mind, any
"software" on a device that survives formatting, hard-resetting, etc. is
"firmware."
The WM6 upgrade for the 8525 overwrites the device's "ROM" and replaces it
with a new "factory-installed" OS and pre-loaded software. This survives a
hard-reset (clearing all user-installed programs or data,) so in my
vernacular, it's a "firmware upgrade."
Any programs you add to the device afterwards, that would be erased by
resetting the phone back to it's "out of the box" condition, I'd define as
software.
You say potato, I say pototto, etc.
Either way, it looks like the OP found the download he was looking for,
whatever we decide to call it! ;-)

It really depends on the relationship between carrier and manufacturer.
You're correct that the "image" (whether you want to call it firmware or
software!) is different for different carriers- the AT&T 8125 and the
T-Mobile MDA, for example, were identical phones (the HTC "Wizard") but they
used different ROM upgrades- one customized with whatever data settings,
logos, ringtones, and crapware AT&T added, the other with T-Mo's settings,
logos, ringtones and crapware. You went to the respective carrier's support
pages to download the new ROM upgrade for your particular model, but both
simply linked to different pages on the HTC support website. (In fact, the
link to upgrade the 8525 on AT&T's site is currently broken! HTC changed
their website around and apparently didn't tell AT&T, or AT&T was told and
didn't care. I found the correct link for the OP by blundering around HTC's
support pages.)
I'm currently using an AT&T Tilt (unlocked on T-Mobile) but I still get my
upgrades from "AT&T" (it links to HTC's support page for the Tilt) since
that's the official "brand" of the phone. It'll reject other ROM upgrades
(without hacking it, which I haven't found a reason to do- the AT&T
firmware/software works well enough.)
