So far I have some rather good reviews on this cell phone, especially
regarding its RF. On the other had, the SL56 gets very poor ratings,
for the same reasons that the S56 gets good ratings. Funny how lower
end phone often beats the pants out the upper crust.

William, would you mind giving a bit more detail on your experiences with
the Siemens phone? I have been thinking about getting one and am concerned
about good rf performance and how the speaker phone works. Don't care about
the frills or features. Anything you can offer would be greatly
    appreciated.

Mr. Hess, I have no experience with the Siemens. So far they appear
less prone to application crashes as the modern Nokia phones are. I am
looking at the reviews on Letstalk.com and here, but nothing recent has
been posted even in the reviews. I was hoping someone in this segment
could bring up more current information. I was surprised to see the
SL56 rated so poorly. In generally this German outfit puts out good
    phones.

I have an M55 and I like it very much. The only potential issue I have
with it is the battery life and the fact that there's no wireless
(Bluetooth or IR) and there isn't a PC cable. There's a 3D Demo of the
M55 somewhere off Siemens.com. The phone has no problems wrt use, etc.
No reason the S56 should be any different. However, the S40 is a rather
buggy phone, not Siemens best effort, so caveat emptor.
