The US Supreme Court has passed down a judgment that the police cannot
place GPS devices on people's private cars. In a recent murder case the
suspect actually led the police to the victim's body because he drove
there. As the information they gathered for their search warrant was
based on a none warranted planted device a solid murder case is
crumbling.

For folks who have been paranoid about the GPS associated with their
cell phones, one poster advised that they simply go into their
programing and turn that function off. Otherwise the cell phone makes
regular connections with the towers. GPS comes on automatically when
you place a 911 call. It is not necessary to have it on all the time.
While it is not likely that anyone will bother using your cell phone to
find you, it is not beyond our technology to do so.

On the one side of this issue are those who do not care, on the other
side of this issue are those who want to hide. what a mess.
