I know that a few people have posted about their phone rebooting or
having similar problems, but I haven't found any posts looking.

My phone has done the reboot a few times, but lately now, it just
shuts itself off, with no reason nor warning. This probably happens 3
to 4 times per day, and as you can imagine, it's quite annoying. It
has also happened when I was talking on the phone.

How can I fix this? I'd much rather do it from home than go to a
Cingular store, seeing as the closest one is 300 miles away.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

So does mine! Started about 3 weeks ago. I can't offer any help,
    just piling on.

Carefully clean and bend inward the brass contacts in the phone. Your
phone is losing it's battery connection, I think. Mine did, too.

Mine was doing the same, shutting off 3 - 4 times a day. Also found that
hard tapping would cause shut off. I changed the battery and now it's OK.
You may have a bad battery or a problem with the battery contacts in the
handset. I still get the occasional (rare) re-boot, but that is probably
software and not related to battery problems.

When I was in the cingular store the other day th e service tech was telling
a woman that 6340's have problems with the battery connections. He said he
cleaned the contacts (I assume with an eraser) and this would take care of
the problem. Sounded iffy to me but if it saves 300 miles I would try it.

    Hehehe....... The old eraser trick.

I have used that trick many many times when I am soldering
a PC board, and the pads are oxidized from being exposed to
    the air so long.

Just take the eraser go at it.
The solder pad will be bright and shiny in no time.
    And takes solder easily.
