In looking at new phones, I have to ask are there any pros or cons on
antennas? The Siemens SL56 is an internal antenna. The Samsung SGH-S307
has the more conventional stub antenna. Can either phone be used with a true
external antenna (magmount on top of car) if necessary for added single
    strength? Thanks. Andy

    Re: Antenna question?

I have not seen an external antenna stub on the SL56, but I have heard
several people complaining about the RF on this phone.
By and large the new cell phones have better antennas so it may not
matter if it's in or outside. (I prefer a long external antenna.) As
    for the SGH S307 ???

Andy got me thinking...anyone have a good source or sources of external
antennas? Both mag-mount and on-the-glass ones are fine. I would be
hooking it up to an Ericsson T28W (on Cingular of course...to keep this
within the bounds of relating to Cingular).

    Thanks,

Any handset can be used with an external antenna if there's an
external antenna jack on the handset. My Nokia 6310i has an internal
antenna, but it has a jack in the back that allows you to attach an
external antenna. Even handsets that don't have a jack for external
antennas you're often able to get a "passive" coupler.

Maybe it's a man thing. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
Manufacturers (hopefully) design their antennas for the best possible
reception. Some manufacturers have mastered this better than others.
    Ericsson evidently hasn't.

As with lots of other stuff using a search engine will get you lots of
places to look. Google brings up at least 10 hits.

Thank you...I do realize the utility in using Google. Google will not
    answer the following;

What I'm looking for is information from folks who:

    - Have purchased an external antenna
    - What kind/brand...mag-mount, glass-mount Larsen, A/S, etc.
    - Where purchased
    - Your experiences with...quality, performance of the antenna, value for
price, performance of the vendor, etc.

That's the stuff I'm looking for. Yeah, it wasn't spelt out in my original
append...but that's what I'm looking for. Anybody? Bueller?

I've got a S/E t62u, and I just bought a Wilson External antenna for it from
www.antennawarehouse.com. It is a mag-mount, and I mounted it on my
bedroom window. I definitely get a 1 to 2 bar improvement from it, on
both GSM and TDMA. I was very pleased. I can finally use the phone
indoors and get great reception. I highly recommend antennawarehouse.com,
as they were very helpful with e-mails, and *very* fast. I bought it on Ebay
($39) on Monday, and it arrived on Wednesday. (I'm in the St. Louis area
on Cingular, and have no affiliation with any of the above organizations)

Replace VENUS in my e-mail with the home planet.
