Hi guys. Is there any way I can find out how long it will be before
the Cingular system in Florida is upgraded from tdma to gsm?
Currently the phone I have does not support gsm, but once gsm
is available I'd like to get a phone that supports the standard. I've
heard lots of good things about it.
I live in the Tallahassee area to give an idea of my location.

    Thanks,
    Tommy

I'm not sure about Tallahassee, but it's been up in Orlando for quite a
few months now. When I got my phone in February, they were
automatically giving GSM phones unless preferred nation or other
national plans were purchases, in which case they were giving TDMA
handsets (mine is TDMA, I'm on preferred nation). TDMA phones were and
still are available for local plans, but they are pushing the GSM phones
first. Orlando's zipcode is 32821 (Lake Buena Vista, where I lived).

Cool. I'll check in to getting a GSM enabled phone when my contract
    runs out in Jan 2004.

    Thanks for the info.
