Strange....On my new v60i gsm, if I go to NYC and then back to the suburbs
my coverage goes to zero when I get home in the suburbs. BUT if I power off
and on at home.... whamo I have 4 or 5 bars as usual. It seems like the
phone cant take leaving a certain market and then seamlessly come back to
another market. the power cycle always clears this up.
searching....searching, registering and then the coverage is back after
    power cycle.

do I need a reprogram?. Its not terrible but a little annoying.

I suspect that you live in CT or south NJ, where Cingular is operating
800 MHz GSM. In NYC, it's 1900 MHz. I also find it annoying that
my 6340i won't band switch automatically, as well as I think that it
should. If the menu selection "network search" was in the phone (as
well as the manual), we wouldn't have to turn 'em off and back on.

Mot V60i is 900/1800/1900 Mhz phone. No way it can jump to 850Mhz.

Most of the 900 MHz band is low-power, public use.. I doubt it is 900 for
    this country.

    It should be 800/1800/1900.
