I was originally looking to go with Verizon and the LG VX6000 or the 4400B.
For some reason, Cingular doesn't want me to leave them <grin>.
I called my local Cingular guy and he recommended:
Nokia 3595
Motorola 720
LG 4010
LG 4050
Nothing personal to him, but I would take the word of this newsgroup over a
sales rep. I would appreciate any feedback on which phones are good
(included ones not listed here) and which ones to stay away from.
Thanks for your suggestions.

According to people on other boards, the T720 is a NIGHTMARE, but that is
also the CDMA version.

Ditto for the GSM version. POS. On top of the physical issues, I
personally don't care for Motorola's menu system either.

Delicate construction on the side of the display bothers me (light pressure
makes it flicker). The quality of the color display is probably the worst I
have ever seen. The polyphonic ringtones are only 4 or 8 sounds at once
(forget which for that model), vs 24 on my Ericsson t300 (which has its own
issues, but serviceable). The quality of the sounds are not so great
either. Overall very little going for it feature-wise, but good reception.

LG used to make total crap, but some models are nice. I would say those are
worth going to see in person and playing with.

My choice would be either a t610/t226 (really cool fun features), or one of
the new fold-up Samsung models (typically reliable phones with great
reception).

Re: Which Phone Would You Choose?
Here's a story for your perusal. I was eating dinner, and called customer
service to check on my internet changes I had just made at the service center,
and I heard my bill: $377.07...I spit up my beef with broccoli and continued,
and the girl there told me I'd gone over 387 minutes on my plan, and had $86.83
in roaming charges- one call was $63.99, in Corpus Christi, TX. (I know my
phone didn't say 'extend' there-I'm a travelling musician)...anyway, she wasn't
able to bring up any detailed bill info, and said she would have to get her
supervisor on the case, and she'd get back to me. I said don't bother, give me
your cancellation department. I cancelled my service, and then consulted my
"financial advisor" (girlfriend), and promptly called 611 again and re-instated
my service...this time I got a wonderful girl named Sereta Green (Fayetteville,
NC center) who was very helpful; she pulled up my billing details, explained
them to me, sugggested a rate plan that is better suited to me, KNOCKED $86.83
OFF MY BILL for signing with a new plan (as a 'courtesy'), gave me a promo deal
on text messages (UNL for three months for $2.99), and backed my rate change up
to the beginning of the current cycle to eliminate any roaming charges...it
just went on and on...she said, "I don't want you calling up here talking about
cancelling, now, OK?" ...just goes to show, sometimes you get a gem- don't give
up, they're out there!
