    Re: GAIT PLAN NV CALIFORNIA

Don't need a GAIT phone in California/Nevada. So use GSM National (or
local) and change to National (GAIT) if and when you travel. Why pay the
GAIT plan fee if a lower price plan will work just as good? 6340i is a
relative deal on Ebay, and a fine phone in my opinion.

A GAIT phone gives you much more coverage in Nevada than a regular GSM
    phone.

Much more, yes. You live off the beaten path in Nevada?

Most of Nevada will be Digital One Rate, Verizon National, or Cingular
National or Sprint Free & Clear America. All premium priced, and a lot of
    analog.

Out of these, why did you pick Cingular Multi-band National, and how did you
    get Cingular to activate it?

I have the GAIT plan too, the Cingular store in Reno said this plan is
only available in Northern Nevada for Cingular's western region.
Sorry California, Oregon, Washington and Southern NV I was told they
are not offering GAIT, only the GSM plan.

Not available in California, and of no use if you have GAIT. If you travel,
it is important. Months ago there was a discussion of "out of area" GAIT
activation. I have a contact name and number in Atlanta, and she fedex'd me
a GAIT sim. I have not had an occasion to activate GAIT service yet. I am
alwasy interested in how the coverage is.

I live in SoCal, but I do travel to the middle of nowhere in Nevada,
    California and Arizona.

I have used none GSM signals in all three of these states (yes, in
California too), some used Cingular Extend, some were roam free.

My other half uses a Verizon tri-mode phone. I have been to a few
places where Verizon had zero signal (no digital or analogue), but my
GAIT phone had signal, roaming, but a signal.

In response to another message here, you can buy a GAIT sim just about
anywhere now in California, as thats the only one that they sell. I
bought mine from a shop in Hawthorne. Got the 6340i phone from Ebay.

To get Cingular to activate it will take a few phone calls, just don't
take no for an answer, you just have to get someone that knows about
GAIT. There are GAIT plans in California, they are not listed on the
website, you have to ask for them over the phone.

I might keep Cingular, or I might change to Verizon too.

The stores don't know much about none GSM phones or plans. The GAIT
plan is available but not listed on the web site.
