You need to be on a Gait plan for your gait phone to work .. a lot of people
think that by adding there sims card to a gait phone will add new service
areas .. it wont you need to be registered on the GAIT Roaming network . The
GAIT Network will work on Cingular and AT&T a GAIT phones great but it seems
the Tri Mode Siemans phone roam no prob on the same network :-P~

Re: GAIT PHONES
Not true, you can use a GAIT phone on Superhome plans in Detroit to
give you a larger calling area including TDMA and AMPS coverage. You
are right about putting a GSM-only sim card into a GAIT phone, they
won't get anymore coverage since their sim card won't have TDMA and
AMPS info programmed on it. The bigger question is if the GAIT phone
will even work with that GSM-only sim card. The GAIT phone is looking
for certain info and doesn't find it, it may just lock up.

Re: GAIT PHONES
You're correct - the GAIT phone will not operate with a GSM only SIM, at
least mine would not. Now on the other hand a GAIT sim put into a GSM only
phone will work, including text messaging. I have a 6340i and I frequently
go back to my 3595 and all works well accept the wireless web.

I have an unlocked ex-Cingular 6340i and the GSM-only SIM from my AT&T
Siemens s46 works in it (and gives me GSM only - no TDMA or GPRS). So
it may be a matter of which phone you're using rather than a blanket
rule.

Wireless web shoudl work on the 3595.. have you checked all the settings?

Re: GAIT PHONES
The 6340i is the plain old WAP (CDPD) and the 3595 is GPRS, which is seen
differently by the account management system for obvious reasons (one bills
in kb and the other by time) however I have found the "Bearer Settings" in
my 3595 and I have set it up to use what it calls GSM Data. I have set the
dial number, ip and all other items but it will not connect. anyone have
any luck with this? TIA

Re: GAIT PHONES
It sounds like there is a software switch that needs to be set at the
network level for your account. Customer service should be able to check
this.

Re: GAIT PHONES
It probably is the fact that it is not on Cingular that it is working.
I think that ATTWS dropped the one GAIT phone they were selling, so
your GSM-only sim card does work. There is only one IRDB and your
phone checked in with the network with the correct info.
