Recently I acquired an Ericsson T39m, which, by the way, I like a
    lot.

Only yesterday I had an opportunity to test Bluetootk, and it
failed. A T610 and a T68 directly beside it could discover each
other fine, just as you would think they should, but my T39m could
neither discover the others nor be discovered by them.

Is there anything more to do than switch Bluetooth on (Extras ->
Bluetooth -> Operation Mode -> On) and switch it to discoverable
(Extras -> Bluetooth -> Discoverable) or let it discover itself
    (Extras -> Bluetooth -> Discover)?

Are there any known software problems in this area? The service menu
    says about the software version:
    R4A008
    prgCXC125268
    R4A008
    prgCXC125147_TAE

Or can this only be a hardware problem? That would be a great pity.

    Just tested this...
    On the T39 - Extras>Bluetooth>Discoverable - Phone says it's discoverable
    for 3 minutes.
    On the T610 - Menu>Connectivity>Bluetooth>My devices>Add - Phone searches
for nearby BT devices and reports it's found a T39.

Well, exactly what I have done, only with a different result. :-(
Thanks, and also to you, Michael!

Doesn't bode too well for it to suddenly start working if you've already
    tried just about everything logical.

Have you tried doing a master reset? That might clear up some software
gremlin which is causing you grief.

Thanks for the hint -- but I have now, and it does not make a
    difference.

In the meantime I have asked a colleague who has worked for
SonyEricsson, doing specifically Bluetooth stuff, and he says that a
hardware problem is unlikely, because in the common cases the
software should have received an error code (and reported it); so if
at all a hardware problem, it could only be the RF, and that would
    be *very* unlikely.

He says I could try to have the software loaded again, but he was
not very confident that it would help. :-(

After that, the only thing left would be a hardware repair,
basically meaning replacement of the circuit board. I guess that is
    pretty expensive. :-( :-(
