    When updating the P900 via the SE update service, should the phone be on or
    off. And how lond does it normally take?
    Im asking coz when i try and update my phone i get the

    for so long that i jus disconnect (after a couple of hours)
    Im on Orange and have a broadband connection

    You won't be able to upgrade your Orange P900 firmware via the SE home
    update service unless you've already 'de-branded' the phone (see the
    relevant post below).

    More than likely Java not installed.
    Check that first.

    Yep, Orange have not released any firmware updates for their Orange branded
    P900 firmware, so you need to de-brand it before you can do any updating
    (see my previous post). But to answer your question, you need to have your
    phone turned off to perform an update.
