Re: ericsson t28 world (unlock) question

If you have been a customer for over 90 days, they shouldn't give you any
    issues.

That's what the last CSR said, that I talked to, about 2 months ago anyway.
Ya never know but, didn't sound unbelievable. ;-)

this is intersting as several people have suggested this is the easiest route
    for me to take.

I have the IMEI number. I am nto sure if my friend is still a customer which
may be why they gave me the run-around.

i am not a customer. perhaps that is the crux of the problem. i am simply a
person to whom an old voicestream phone was given so that i could use it in
    china.

Maybe that's the problem. They might be suspect that the phone may have been
stolen. They could verify, with the IMEI of the phone, of its past owner and
    so on etc...

I dunno how you can remotely unlock a T28. If you had a Nokia, you could
have used the DCT4 calc that figures out the unlock code.

well, I'll tell you how I convinced PBMS to unlock a Ericsson phone.
I told them i was a roamer from Australia (which was semi true, I
still have a Optus number, and it has been cheaper for me to leave the
number in Australia), and I as I pointed out at the time, it was a
matter of unlocking the phone, or they weren't going to get the
roaming revenue from yours truly. It took them about 30 seconds to
make a decide that maybe unlocking the phone was a good idea.

Nitwit who sold it to me assured me it was unlocked...

i offered to provide voicestream (t-mobile) the IMEI but they were definately
    not helpful.
