Steve
I am watching your advice on newsgroups with reference to the racket being
run by T mobile, preventing the pictures on the camera phone from being
downloaded into the computer via cable.
I find no way to retrieve the pictures I have on the phone, except by using
email or other payment services.
Sony Ericsson and T mobile both sold me a cable that uploads data and images
from the computer to the phone, but NOT from the phone to the computer.
Besides the fact that this is afraudulent racket, is there a way to
circumvent this?
Please advise

Has their butchery of the firmware removed the option to send via BT or IR?
Pictures & Sounds -> My Pictures -> <select pic> -> More -> Send -> As
SMS/As Email/Via BT/Via IR
If so, get the thing unlocked/debranded/upgraded - there seems to be enough
people offering to do that for about £15 (in the UK, at least)

For Gods sake, the T610 is one of the most connected phones EVER!!! You
could use either blue tooth or IR, both of which come on most modern
laptops, and IR has been around forever on laptops. IR kits for desktops
are inexpensive, and bluetooth dongles for desktops aren't overly
expensive. I'm not even sure that your cabled option shouldn't work.

I have no problems moving the pictures from my T610 to my computer. I don't
use a cable, but one of the following:
1) Initiate an IR connection. Then, once connected, pull up the picture,
choose 'more' then choose 'send via IR'. Works fine.
2) I use the email service, which for me is free (using my own ISP and the
free WAP accss which comes with the phone).
Either ought work.

No, he just didn't RTFM (I assume it's in the manual, but anyway the phone
does it).

1. Don't use the send function from the camera screen, it's only for picture
messages or whatever. Save the picture (click the joystick). Go to the "my
pictures" area, highlight, select "more," etc.
2. FYI, some included pictures might not send (limited distribution
copyrighted or some such BS). Your pictures will.
3. I use IR, others use Bluetooth. I don't know about the data cable.
Return the data cable if it's worth anything and get an IR or Bluetooth
adapter.

Re: Tmobile/Sony misrepresentation on T610 camera
Uh works fine dude. You need the data cable and the appropriate
software on your phone to download pictures from your phone to the
computer. go to www.sonyericsson.com you need to install several
programs. with a cable you can't initiate the send from the phone,
you have to use the pc program. But anyways. the cable is
troublesome, get a cheap bluetooth usb adapter for your computer,
$20-$30 much easier. BTW, forget about asking the people who work for
the cell service, they're not knowledgeble on the technical side of
phones. If you do ask you might get crazy answers.

Another person who wants to run out and scream how bad the corporate world
is treating him. How SONY-ERICSSON got togther with TMOBILE to make this
huge conspiracy to dominate the world through picture file manipulation. We
know Pierce Brosnan will be Bond, but who will be the "Bond Girl" for James
Bond and The Case of The World Dominating Wireless Carrier ?

The OP is right about not being able to download pictures via cable.
However, I agree with you about the many other connectivity options (which
are both more convenient than a cable anyway).
