I recently popped in my AT&T SIM card into an unlocked Sony Ericsson
T616. The phone is a branded Cingular phone, and I am able to
send/receive messages, and make calls, and access mmode. The only
problems that I have with the phone are more or less easthetic, and I
was hoping that somebody could help me resolve these problems.
Since I use AT&T, I would much rather prefer the link in the Menu to
say "mMode" instead of "Cingular", change the second menu link
(Internet Services) from pointing to the Cingular Homepage, to point
to something else, and when shutting down the phone, I want to remove
the Cingular logo. If there is some kind of way to update the phone
with the AT&T default configuration, that would be great. I set up
the mMode per the instructions on the AT&T website.
Thanks for any leads or information on how to do this. I apologize
for cross-posting, but I'm not sure if people check multiple groups,
and which group this message applies to.

If you want to de-brand the phone fully, you're going to have to flash both
parts of the firmware and reset the GDFS. Personally I wouldn't use
Div/Terminator for this job due to problems in the past, but would use
Twister instead. Not cheap though.

They will flash you to the latest firmware for $25 and for an extra $5
remove all Cingular customization. If you have the latest firmare, I am not
sure if they have a seperate charge for just the uncustimizing or not. I
would think likely not since it has to be flashed to have the branding
removed anyway. From what I have read, they are very reliable and very fast.
I will either be sending mine out soon or buying a terminator dongle to do
it myself. Good luck!
