I thought the p800's docking station charged the phone?
Or is it charger only?

As long as you plug the charger into the docking station it will. Look
underneath and you'll see where to plug the charger in.

USB, I know. But even though it synchronizes it wont charge. Do I have a
faulty docking station or maybe I've not installed something...

No the dockingstation is serial (and uses an usb-plug)
When you want it to charge the phone you also have to plug the charger into
the dockingstation.
