T610 (Cingular) - can upgrading get rid of all the Cingular stuff?

The Cingular "features" on my T610 is getting on my nerves. Is there
a way to remove it, like a software upgrade?

I did the >*<<*<* on my phone to see what version it is, it wouldn't
work. When I press the "SW Information" button, the phone freezes up
for 5 minutes and then reboot.

You would have to get the phone unlocked and have someone do the upgrade or
possibly a reload of a clean version of the firmware.

Not sure how that would impact your ability to use the phone with Cingular's
network.

You need clean firmware installing and GDFS resetting to get rid of all the
cutomisation. Simply upgrading the firmware won't do the job.

Global mobility will flash to the newest firmware and uncustomize the phone
(get the Cingular stuff off) for $30 plus shipping. Are you sure it is a
T610 and not a T616? I don't think Cingular ever offered any branded T610s.
