I personally think that living in a technologically backward country sucks as far as cell phones are concerned.... sony ericsson wont sell me a screen that im fairly confident i can fix myself with the right instruction. SO, I have already opened the phone up, taken the display out but not sure how to dissconnect the old one and connect for that matter the new one. Has anyone replaced the screen?

Re: Has anyone replaced thier screen on the T616???
There is a company that sells 630 screens and alot of the hoibbyist types
are putting them in their 616-610s I believe. Mush nicer resolution, but
evidently requires a Firmware flash and that makes the phone not perform as
well, also. So it s become a trade, pretty for quality of service.
Personally, I look at my 616 and still havent gotten over the quality. So it
can definitely be done, now its a matter of finding one of them. I will
check my sources and archives and see what i can find for ya.

eBay (UK anyway) has several for around £18.99 with screwdriver and full
instructions. I replaced my T630 screen without much difficulty. A quick
search on eBay will throw up several - go for it!

I have found a few 610 screens... I just want my display back! A nicer screen would be nice but I'm not too sure about installing the firmware flash stuff your're talking about... The only difference between the 610 and 616's are ones UK and the rest of the world and the 616 is specially for the U.S.... of course because America likes to be complicated.... Anyway, the screens should be the same and I wouldn't have to install new firmwear would I?

I think a new T610 screen would do you very nicely. Sometimes the vendors
don't ship internationally but I note that this one will, for example, if
you email them first.

Hi Brian
The dis-assembly of the phone is no problem (apart from one thing - see
below) and you will see how the screen ribbon cable is attached to the
phone. It is secured in three ways, a piece of tape, a securing lever and a
small plastic pull-out clip (you'll see what I mean when you take the tape
off). You have to pull the lever across first and then draw out the plastic
clip to fully release the cable. Simply insert the new one, press in the
clip, pull the lever back into position and replace the tape. You'll find
piece of clear protective plastic on your new screen, simly remove that and
re-assemble.
The hardest part of the whole process is removing the top cover (the one
above the battery cover which covers the antenna plate). You may break a
finger nail or two here, but follow the instructions and you'll be OK!

Thanks for all your help Ted! These places are nice because all of us here have the same goal in common: to get the most out of our phones without being screwed by the companies that make them! Thanks Ted for all your help!

No not yet, I ordered it from Canada. It will take 10-12 days for it to arrive at my home. Now I'm just waiting!
