Hi, I use a T39m with T-Mobile USA and I was trying to make changes
in the Preferred Networks list. On my SE T226 (using the same SIM)
the list is a bit longer, I assume due to a larger capacity but I
don't need some of the Europe and Asia carriers listed at this time.
On the T39m, I assumed that I could delete a few Preferred Nets entries
and then the "Add New?" option would appear; but it doesn't ... I can
delete a network entry (using either the "C" button or by pressing Yes
and then selecting Delete in the menu) ... but those entries remain in
the list and there's no "Add New?" shown on the T39m.
Is the Preferred Nets list locked, and are they pushing this when the
terminal registers at power-on, OTA, or ??? (Anything to do with SIM
or firmware?) Thanks; Larry.

T226
Hi. A friend just gave me a T226 and I would like to use it on my T Mobile service. Do you know if that is posible and any unlock code or procedure? When I put in my T Mobile SIM the phone reads "insert correct SIM".
Thanks for your help.
Oh, I did contact T Mobile and they replied by email that they did not have unlock codes for AT & T phones that I should contact
AT & T directly. I had already done that and AT & T said they did not even use "lock" codes. Someone is giving me the runaround I think.

Re: T39m Preferred Nets question (T-Mobile USA)
Cliff, T226 was originally using Cingular's firmware and SP (service provider)
locked to Cingular. I guess AT&T is probably using their own lock codes or
Cingular's ... in either case, you can't join T-Mobile's network yet. I had
a similar situation (T226 SP-locked to Cingular and needed to join T-Mobile)
so I had my T226 unlocked in the SF Bay Area (CA USA), after that everything
was o.k.
It's good to keep the following key sequences handy, you can check the status
of your handset --
* # 0 6 #
To double-check the IMEI number
> * < < * < *
To bring up the Service Menu (can check most stuff including firmware in
the first sub-menu there i.e. "Service Info")
< * * <
Lock menu (Network, SP) ... look but don't try to unlock them unless you
know the lock code with high confidence (after 5 incorrect attempts total,
more work would be required to reset the lock counters
The "<" and ">" above are the left and right arrow keys, respectively; Larry.

That is correct, because AT&T will NOT unlock an AT&T phone, ever, for
anyreason. So they don't bother with lock codes. They have no
intention of EVER unlocking any AT&T phone.
