Can any body offer help or point me in the right direction. I've done
a Google and could not unearth exactly what I needed.

I am sending a picture in jpeg format from my PC via Bluetooth to my
    t610

The picture goes across fine and is received fine but when I try to
view it the phone just shows a place holder with a red X inside.

This has got to be a size or picture format issue but I am not sure
what I need to do to make the picture viewable and even better set it
    as my wallpaper.

    Any help appreciated.

You have to format the picture correctly.
Use the SonyEricsson Image software, available on their support website.
    www.sonyericsson.com/support, fill-in T610 and off you go ...

    Cheers Bernd,

I should have said when I first posted I was hoping somebody wasn't
going to say that - both the version that came on the CD and the
version on the above site will not install correctly on my PC.

The installer hangs right at the end whilst deleting temp files and
the only way out is to restart the PC.

After the restart SE image editor it complains about unsupported
functions at least three times whilst starting up.

To add insult to injury it won't even remove with add/remove programs
so I had to do a system restore.

I don't suppose anybody knows of a program that will do the same thing
ie get the images into a size and format that I could use on my phone.

    Cheers.

I have encountered the same problem.

Some jpegs work ok, and some don't. So what is this "format the
picture correctly"? Is it to do with the size in pixels, the
    aspect ratio, or what?

If it's a mere matter of size and aspect ratio, it should be
possible to resize and crop as necessary in any image editing
    software.

Right I've got it sussed. When I tried to install SE image editor it
loaded some sample images in my pictures.

A bit of playing about with these and I discovered these were bitmaps
    and were at 128X127 pixels.

I just have to use my image editing software (I use Dells Image
expert) to resize the image save it in the correct format and bingo
    problem sorted....and yes it works.

There must be more to it than that cos I've got several jpegs on
my phone (not bitmaps) that certainly weren't 128x127. Admittedly,
with that tiny lo-res display, there's little point transferring
a high-res image. I've just sold my laptop which was my only other
Bluetooth-enabled device, so I can no longer experiment, unless
I buy one of those USB Bluetooth devices for my PC. And I can't quite
    be bothered.

It would be interesting to hear about any other findings about what
kind of images the phone will or won't display.

    <SNIP>

Well it works fine for me.

All I wanted was some images to use with the contact numbers in the
phone book and one as wall paper and that is all I have done -

    - Opened the image in Dell image expert (premium edition)

    - Cropped the image ensuring it is square

    - Re-sized at 128X128 pixles

    - saved the image as a bitmap and then send to the phone via
    Bluetooth.

However I have tried saving the images as a jpeg too also at 128X128
pixels and this works too so I am not sure what the problem is your
    having............
