    hi

when I want to unbrand a v800 what would I need (if I don't want to buy
credits for every single update etc, as I chance mobile phone every few
months and the same is true for other persons in my familiy.)?
Would a twister flasher with setool standalone be suitable? Or is the
twister flasher alone enough? if not, what do I need the setool
standalone need for? Or the other way around, why does the server
version of setool work with an inexpensive cable, but the stand alone
version needs something like the twister flasher?

    Thanks for your help

buy a setool standalone at US$199.00

    unlock/debrand all you want (k5, k7, s7, v8, z1)

    1 computer, 1 user only

    And what hardware is needed?
I just bought some credits with davinciteam because they support the
dss-20 stand that I already have and I was able to upgrade (to the
newest voda software). I guess when they get z800 firmwares on their
server, that will do the trick for the moment for me...
I hope this will be soon because the firmware I have now is even more
crippeled then the one I had before (isn't able to even play the
protected (with the drm-software of se) MP3s, isn't german...)

Twister on its own is enough to deal with the P800 (and P900/910).

SeTool standalone works without Twister using a logging system. Laser has
produced a version that uses Saras's boxes (Twister, UFS etc) and that's
more flexible. However, unless you're planning to flash a few K or F series
handsets I'd be inclined to wait a while as I'm pretty sure the price will
    drop on SETool quite rapidly

Because unless you buy the unlimited version of the standalone SETool you'll
still end up buying logs. The version for Twister is more fully featured
and a bit more flexible in the way it works.

Anyway, the point's a bit moot as you don't need SETool to flash a P800 -
just use Twister to do it. Whichever way you decide to go, make sure you
only buy any flashing gear from an authorised distributor/reseller - that
way at least you'll be dealing with someone who knows the box well and can
deal with any support problems you might have.

Personally I'd go with Twister - at least that way you can also deal with
other brands of handset as well (and it's not tied to just one machine).

Directly at the davinciteam homepage. (By the way, I installed ICQ last
night for the first time since many years to contact you but you weren't
online - and you know, men can't wait if their looking for a new toy )

    Thanks a lot!
Another question: The z1010 seems to use a similar kind of firmware
(CID29 or something...) - does this mean it would work on the v800 as
well? (if, with some strange side effects, I guess)

Why do you think the price will drop in the near future? I still don't
understand... the standalone version doesn't use logging, does it?
Anyway - as I just bought some davinciteam credits, I may really wait
    some time.

    ah.

    But I don't have a P800, so that would't help a lot I have a V800
that would like to become a Z800

    Thanks

D'oh! Ok, I'll go and stand in the corner and recite "I must read posts
    more carefully before replying". ;-)

    Sorry.

I still think I'd go the Twister route and add SETool as well though, but it
would be a bit of overkill if you're just wanting to do the one phone.

    No problem

Of course it is - I love overkills No of course I wouldn't buy that
for one phone, but my wife has an SE as well, her two sons have a V800
as well... and we all buy new phones quite often and I always like to do
    firmwareupgrades
