Just purchased a P910i. Trying to synch with my XP laptop via the
synchStation. Whatever I do I get the message "no phone identified. Please
connect and define your phone." But if i connect via Bluetooth my laptop
definitely sees the phone and gets the name I gave it. Any help would be
great

Sound like the phone is not being recognised by Windows via the Sync Staion.
You need to see if the Sync Station com setting is not being used by another
device. I have had problems with this in the past. It is a piece of bug
ridden ****e that makes Mickeysofts Active Sync look good!!!!

*lol*
Couldn't agree more - the problem seems to lie in the lack of co-operation
between mRouter (even v3.0 beta) and SE's data suite. Suddenly - and for
absolutely no apparent reason - SE Data Suite won't acknowledge my P900,
despite the fact that mRouter can "see" the phone and reports it as
Connected.....I've uninstalled the whole bloody lot then reinstalled to no
avail. Sod it, I'm off to buy a MemoryStick compat. card reader or a BT
dongle on tuesday and transfer files and stuff manually :-)

Don't blame you. How any company can produce a piece of software that won't
work reliably with USB amazes me!!

Re: P910i problem
well, I checked and my laptop recognises the sync station on Com 7, which
does not appear to be in use by anything else. I have a query in to the Sony
ericsson "customer care" facility. let's see what they have to say!
cheers

Re: P910i problem
Several more frustrating hours on the phone with the Sony ericsson helpline
in South Africa. They claim this is a known Windows XP SP2 firewall problem,
but threw up their hands when i said i'd disabled the firewall and that
didn't solve the problem. Apparently it has worked for others. They have no
further advice except to hire a Windows firewall expert! Any other ideas
would be gratefully received.

Re: P910i problem
You need the latest P910i software. It works with the firewall running.
Also make sure you have the latest Java runtime loaded. Sony in RSA are
useless to say the least!!

If you've disable the firewall then that's obviously not it! Gotta
love these helplines...
I'd think there's a conflict somewhere, but it's much more likely to be
a syncstation that is faulty. Even so, double check the properties that
it's looking in the right place (usb), and that the COM port isn't being
used by something else. Disabling your onboard serial ports and
reinstalling the SE software might at least get it going.
