    Dear all

I'm sure there may be an easy answer to this question - but if there
is, Virgin customer services didn't know what it was earlier today!

I have recently bought a new Sony Ericsson K700i handset for my
existing Virgin Pay As You Go SIM, as my two daughter's have both told
me how good and quick they are on initial switch on. I have tried both
of my existing SIMs in it, and both are v-e-r-y s-l-o-w in getting
to the useable part of the phone, as they both seem to get stuck at
"searching" for about 45 seconds. I put my youngest daughter's similar
Virgin PAYG SIM in and hers gets there almost immediately. I called the
Virgin Customer Services helpline and they thought it was a quirk of the
handset - but I said it clearly wasn't as neither of my daughter's have
    the same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions (ie what I should do with the Virgin
SIM to get it respond quicker.... other than ditching it
    altogether?!!).

Oh and why I'm at it .. none of us at home know how to silence the
camera "shutter" noise when taking pix .. any ideas??!

    Many thanks in advance.

    Steve

you cannot silence the click easily i think u have to do it with a firmware
flash, and even then i think its hard. as for your boot up times, phones are
meant to be kept on. why are u with virgin ? vodafone $49 cap is great !

Yep, has to be a firmware alteration. You dont have to flash the
firmware, just customize the file system, 30 second job with the right
    tools.

Vodaphone $79 cap is better, seen my home phone drop something like $200
    a quarter.
