I'd just like some input on people's battery time for the T610 in various
modes of use to see if there are any significant differences and thus
knowing if a battery is faulty.

    Daily usage:
I use my phone for taking say 8 pictures, sending a couple of SMS and one or
two MMS, maybe using regular GPRS-services a bit, making and recieving a few
calls (one to two minutes a call), transfering a couple of pics by IR to the
computer and not playing any games. If I do this my battery is totally dead
in about 48 hours. Backlight is set to auto of course.

Regardless if this is normal or not, it would be interesting to see what
    everybody else's battery times are.

Is your phone on 24/7 even if you're not using it, i.e. when you sleep and
    so on?

mine was really bad for the first few weeks.(not even a day and a half)I
even complained to Orange. I found after letting it discharge so the red
joystick led flashed then charged it things vastly improved.

I leave mine on 24/7 and I use it in the day a fair bit. I am finding I can
    get 5-6 days now

Re: Battery time comparison on T610

I just got mine a couple weeks ago.

I am getting about 4 days out of it with minimal use. Just a few calls, but
a fair few sms's. I turn it off every night for about 8 hours.

Sorry if this is common knowledge but, I've got a feeling that the network
you're on has a lot to do with it. I've found that my old phone (Nokia7650)
used to get about 3days (barely) of use on Telstra. I've got my '3' sim card
in it now and it is using the Vodafone network. I am in the middle of doing
an experiment to see how long it lasts on this network. So far, It's been on
for the past two days (minus sleeping time), and hasn't dropped a battery
    bar yet.

Telstra's network is a much better network than Vodafone's and yet it got
less time. I think that the phone switches to the closest reception tower to
make sure it has the best signal strength. In doing so, using up a bit more
juice. Seeing as Telstra has the most covergare, and more towers, the phone
has to spend more juice jumping from tower to tower. Whereas, on Vodafone,
the lack of towers here means it does less switching and thus, lasts longer.

Again, sorry if this is already well known....

I thought that the power with wich a phone sends is signal depends entirely
on the decision made by the network computer.

There can be an important difference between networks indeed. One can notive
that when roaming. The indicated expected batty life (hours stnadby/talk)
were different from one network to another. More often than not the
estimated time was londer with the so called bad reception networks (usually
third playrs with 1800 networks like Base in B and WIND in IT).
