    Hi everybody,

I need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle and a CF card, but have heard horror
stories with regards to compatibility so I thought I'd seek some advice :-).

OK, firstly to deal with my HP Jornada 568 (PPC 2002), here are the two
    options so far:
    Belkin - http://tinyurl.com/lv3a
    BlueMonkey - http://tinyurl.com/l7gz

And, here are the options for a USB dongle for my PC (running Windows ME):
    Belkin - http://tinyurl.com/fv4y
    TDK - http://tinyurl.com/lv3k

The PC, my PDA and my SE T610 are the only things that will be "talking" to
each other. Does anybody forsee any compatibility issues or recommendations
to help me choose from the products above.

    Thanks,

Re: Bluetooth question: Windows ME + Pocket PC 2002 + T610

Most of the horror stories were about PPC 2003 and CF card drivers. Since
you don't have PPC 2003 then you should not have that problem. I have a
Belkin USB dongle and it works just fine with my Sony-Ericsson T68i. I am
not so happy with Belkin's sloooooow support for new driver releases. I am
currently running a new Widcomm stack but I had to hack it to make it work
with the Belkin. I really wish Belkin would try and keep up. Another
possible issue with Belkin is the F8T001, which is the USB dongle rated for
100m, does not support the headset profile according to Belkin. They told me
in an email that this device does not have the proper hardware to support BT
Audio. I have not been able to make it work even with the new Widcomm
drivers and others have reported a similar problem. So even though I am
hesitant to believe Belkin it appears that they are probably correct.

The Belkin and the TDK devices should work fine for you. I am not familiar
with the Blue Monkey devices so I cannot comment on them. If you can live
without the BT Audio support then getting Belkin on both the PPC and the
desktop is probably your best bet.

    Cheers
    TC

PS - I don't really think the BT Audio is anything to worry about since a)
most reports say that the quality is poor and suffers when the desktop CPU
gets busy and b) most of the BT headsets being sold today are mono only so
they really don't offer you much in the way of MP3/Video playback.

Some great advice there Tony. I will probably not be going for the
BlueMonkey CF card, simply because it is not very well known and software
updates for future products will be very slow. However, I think I've chosen
the TDK USB adaptor, I know it's a lot bigger than the Belkin, but the
software that it comes with for mobile compatibility is supposedly second to
none. There shouldn't be a cross-manufacturer compaitbility problem (Belkin
CF and TDK adaptor), so that's what I think I'm going for.

    Many thanks,

The TDK is a pretty good device from the comments I have read about it. You
shouldn't have a problem getting it to work with a Belkin CF card for the
    Jordana.
Good luck and please let us all know how things worked out.

    Cheers
