    Hello,
    I've got a sony ericcson t68i and want to buy a T610. I'm with T-Mobile in
Los Angeles and wondered how one switches to a new phone?
Is it simply a matter of putting the SIM card from the old phone into the
new phone? And, do I need to get the old phone unlocked to sell it?
I'm real new to this stuff, so any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Michelle

Basically yes. You may want to copy the address book
and some other stuff from the T68 to the T610.

In what way is it locked? Locked to the provider (T-Mobile) or to the SIM
    card?
I am asking, because I think you can only change the SIM lock. The provider
    lock has to
be undone by a Service Center, but I am not sure.

It should be completely unlocked. Then it is easier to sell the phone.

BTW, the T610 is a nice phone, if it has the original SonyEricsson firmware
    on it.
Some providers put their own suff on the phone, which make it not as nice.

Try to get one without branding by T-Mobile.

    Have a nice day
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure how it's locked (if it is). I've just seen a lot of posts re:
unlocking phones, and assumed all were locked. I originally purchased the
phone from Amazon if that makes any difference.

How would I get a T610 without branding by T-Mobile? If I went with Amazon
again, would it not be branded?

    Again, thanks for the input!
    Michelle

Are you sure that it is locked?

    No, only some are.

I believe that this refers to Pre-paid cards and/or some sponsored phones in
    Europe
    and esp. in Germany.

You should ask at Amazon wether it is the orig. Firmware or T-Mobile
    Firmware.
But it is likely that it is the original.

    You're welcome.
