I'm looking for an interim phone, to replace my "weak reception" t68i until
some of the new phones like the Nokia 6600, Siemens SX1, or SE Z600 arrive.
My ATT store tells me that the T616 reception is much better than that of
the T681?
Are people finding that to be the case?
TIA

Re: T616 Reception better than t68i?
I can't comment on the other phones you're mentioning, but my husband
and I just got T616 phones and are really unhappy with the reception -
it's horrible. We both had Nokia phones (3395 and 8290) and thought
the reception was bad, but I literally have almost no reception on the
T616 anywhere! I called Sony Ericcson and they said we could send the
phones in and *maybe* something could be fixed (firmware upgrade), but
we bought these phones less than a week ago.
We do have Cingular, which is not known for it's great coverage, but
they are being incredible about their return policy. The manager of
our local store keeps letting us borrow different phones to try to see
if we find something we like better. The Siemens SL56 had strong
reception but both that and the S56 have a terrible UI and the phone
feels cheap in general. I'd love to get recommendations for phones
that have both good reception AND a nice, usable UI.

How are you determining reception - by the number of "bars" or actually
making a call?
I'm trying the T616 with AT&T in NH and MA. I'm finding reception
perfectly acceptable. No dropped calls yet. The phone can make and keep
calls with 1-2 bars as well.

My T68i and my dads 3210 both have the same signal strength (in the same
place) and they're both on the same network.

Re: T616 Reception better than t68i?
Reception of my T68i based on ability to make calls in certain areas
eg. on the edges of the network coverage. in a carpark 3 levels underground
is the same as my gf's 6310i and my friends 3210. out of the 3 phones the
6310i had the worst phone reception of these 3.
on edge of network coverage, the t68i was the first phone that was able to
dial a number and connect to it without dropping out. the 3210 connected
but then dropped out and the 6310i wasnt able to connect till roughly
another kilometer down the road.
