    I have a T28s which I'm quite happy with, except that I don't enjoy
charging the battery 2-3 times a week. I've been thinking about
replacing it, but I'm not quite sure with what.

I want a small phone with long battery life and good sound quality,
and I think that a T39m would suit my needs. Would it, or should I go
for one of the newer models?

    The sequence of upgrades for T28s is... -> T39m -> T68i -> T610.
They all have Bluetooth. If not needed nor colour screen, then look
into T600 which is very very compact but remaining triband.

Change to a GP powercell if available for that model.

Sorry to say that , but no.
I also liked T28 very mush, specially because of realy small size, solid
rock construction with light alloy frame and flip.
Because of cameras, bluetooth, irda and all those features seems they forgot
    about just ordinary phones

I forgot. Yes, if you were satisfied with T28, you will be satisfied with
    T39 ( as I was )
I lost my t39, bought T68i and......... I am going to get back to T39

    Definitely yes.

    As you like.

Just to remind you: There are two batteries with larger capacities
for /// T28/29/39: Beside the "ultra slim" BUS-11 the "slim"
BSL-11 and the fat "high capacity" BHC-10. Ericsson gives up to
300/435/715 hrs of standby time. (These figures are to be taken
with the usual pinch of salt: two thirds of the values seem to be
    more realistic.)
